In order to serve each other better we have created family groups within the congregation with the purpose of creating a communication link as well as meeting the holistic needs of that group.
"...We have fellowship with one another." 1 John 1:7
We also benefit from this program in the many fellowship activities such as social gatherings, involvement in church activities and opportunities for benevolence work for the entire congregation.
Our Family Groups host various events, promote fellowship among the members,
meet benevolent needs as they arise, and encourage each other in attendance and participation. Each family group meets as a group at least six times a year, after Sunday evening services. Visitors and families new to the congregation, regardless of their assigned family group, are encouraged to fellowship with the family group meeting after services on the day they attend.
There are five geographically-based family groups and as new people come into the congregation, they will be added to a family group. Some people who visit services often may also be assigned to a family group as a way of encouraging them.
While voluntary, participation on any level helps strengthen the family bond that is so important to the church.
We also create “Letters from Home,” which is designed to stay in contact with our
members who are temporarily away from home (college students and soldiers on active duty). Four or five names are highlighted each week on a rotating basis. Family group members are encouraged to send cards, letters, emails, and care packages each week, and on special occasions. Our family members who are away truly appreciate hearing from us.
